A man suspected to be addicted to marijuana on Tuesday hacked two school girls to death in Vunza in Bukomansimbi, Masaka district.

Denis Ssebbanja later committed suicide and his body was found hanging on a tree in a coffee plantation. He had killed the girls the previous night.
Angry villagers set his body ablaze.

The Police said Ssebbanja defiled the girls before killing them using pangas.

The body of Lucia Nakkalwe, 16, a student of Kitaasa SS was found half naked abandoned in a bush, a few meters away from her grandmother’s home in Vunza village.
It bore nine deep wounds on the skull and hands. It lay a few metres away from two empty bottles of soda and a blood-stained pangas.

Local councillors identified the other victim as Grace Nakigudde, 14, a primary six pupil in Bukomansimbi.

Her body was recovered from her grandmother’s coffee plantation a few metres from the home after disappearing from home the previous night.

The district CID officer, James Bangirana, said Ssebbanja had been on the run over defilement charges at Bukomansimbi Police.

He said Nakkalwe’s grandmother had reported to the Police that Ssebbanja had defiled the girl and made her pregnant.

LC officials said Ssebbanja used to move stealthily at awkward hours after the Police summoned him.

Residents said Ssebbanja committed suicide for fear of mob action.
