LONRHO Motors has injected sh10m in the Yamaha East Africa Motorcross Challenge due May 1 at Lubiri circuit.

Lonrho sales and marketing manager Joseph Tinkamanyire announced the offer at the launch of the regional competition yesterday at Hotel International in Muyenga.

The motorcross event organised by Speedway Motorcycle Club (SMOC) will feature riders from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Somalia.

Tinkamanyire assured Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) of its commitment to supporting motorcycling in Uganda.

“Yamaha has put a lot of money in promotion of motorcycling in this country and will continue doing so. We are proud to give back to our customers by sponsoring such events,” Tinkamanyire said.

A new Yamaha 100c.c motorcycle will be go to the winner of the ‘boda boda’ race that will spice up the competition.

Castrol lubricants and Mogas are co-sponsors of the event that is expected to attract over 100 riders from the region.

AON and Fire Masters are also co-sponsors while Hotel International and Katumwa Sports Centre have also supported the event by offering substantial discounts.
