SEANICE Kacungira, 22, has been appointed Sanyu FM’s brand manger. Charles Bwogi talked to her.

QUESTION: What is your radio background?
I entered the industry at the age of 16 in Tanzania with Cloud FM. In 2000, I joined East Africa FM before joining Sanyu FM in my first year at Makerere University.

What is Sanyu FM’s brand manager supposed to do?
Use every opportunity to promote the station. This can be through going for parties and other engagements with the station’s flayers. I also attend sales meeting and learn how the audience understands us because we shall know the activities to sponsor and the programming to carry out. I do a lot of promotion activities with the station. To cut a proper niche in the market, you have to be appreciated internally and externally.

Does Sanyu have any corporate social responsibility programmes?
Yes. We are sponsoring rugby for the whole year and are sinking in between sh10m and 20m monthly.

What drives you?
A job well done and when my family likes it, it makes me feel good. It is not the money I earn, but liking and enjoying what I am doing because I will put in my all.
