BONIFACE Kiprop (left) failed in the quest to better his national record when he finished sixth in the 10,000m at the FBK Games in Hengelo, Holland on Sunday night. He clocked 27:25:12.

The race was won by Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele, who also failed in his desire to rewrite his world 10000m record of 26:20:31 set last year.

Bekele’s winning time in Hengelo was nevertheless the fastest run this year.
