MOST teenagers, especially school girls, believe that going to the garden is a punishment, but this is not true, according to the principal of Mpoma School, Schola Ndyagambaki.

“Schools should involve students, especially girls, in practical agriculture as a way of making them love farming when they grow up. You should introduce agriculture competitions as a way of encouraging students,” she said at the school’s agricultural day recently.

“Initiating school gardens also helps students reduce on the amount spent on foodstuffs.”
