INITIALLY fretful, ultimately fruitful, URA’s trip to Wankulukuku was flavored by a Ronald Ssesanga priceless away goal in their 1-1 quarter-final draw against Express yesterday.

Richard Malinga however, highlited his value to Express when he notched a vital equaliser in response before thwarting David Kazibwe’s stoppage-time header that would have given the visitors a 2-1 victory.

URA left delighted with the draw, on a balmy and chilly evening that giants SC Villa managed a narrow 1-0 first leg victory.

Stephen Nsereko secured the all-important goal on 76 minutes to hand the wasteful Jogoos victory over a hard-battling Victor outfit.

The Cranes midfielder headed past Rwandan comic custodian Mohammed Mossi off an Emmanuel Balyejusa corner from the right flank sending the small crowd into wild celebration.

Villa were however left cold when referee Fred Mufuta sent off their captain Andy Mwesigwa following an elbow on Victor’s Richard Baluku.

Sunday and Monday’s return fixtures promise yet other epics on the evidence of yesterday’s contests.

Deo Sserwada’s URA outfit performed impressively, sticking rigidly to his canny strategy of containment and counter-attacking to suit the fleet-feet of David Kiwanuka and Ssesanga.

Express will need to open up a lot more in the return leg, with belief, that they can score, particulary with the return of Hassan Mubiru.
