THE Police in Lira have summoned the district secretary for security on suspicion of campaigning against the referendum.

THE Police in Lira have summoned the district secretary for security on suspicion of campaigning against the referendum, reports Ali Mao and James Oloch.

The district Police chief, Taire Idh-wege, said Tonny Ogwang Adwari went around telling people not to vote.

Ogwany, however, denied the allegation. “I am going to make a statement but it will be brief because I am not a criminal,” he said.

The district registrar, Dennis Ebong, said the general turn-up in Lira municipality was very poor because many voters were not fully sensitised about the exercise.
