BADRU Lusambya’s promoters have finalised arrangements to have Czech fighter Tomas Kugler face the Ugandan at Lugogo in September.

“We are all set,” said Big Strikers Promotions vice chairman Ernest Matovu of the arrangements that will make Kugler (above) the second European prizefighter to venture in Uganda.

Kugler 11 (8kos) will be Lusambya’s first opponent from outside Africa. It will be also an answer to the fighter’s call for European and American opposition.

Ukranian Vladmir Matkievski in 1997 became the first European professional boxer to fight in Uganda. Matkievski lost to Justin Juuko.

Big Strikers directors Jamil Sewanyana, Kavuma Kabenge, Godfrey Nyakana and Matovu are determined to ensure that Lusambya is facilitated to his lifetime dream of a world title shot.

Lusambya is still fresh from a sixth round knockout of South African Tshepo Mashego at Nakivubo.

The Ugandan, who has knocked out nine of his 10 opponents, wants to become the first home based to win a world title.
Ayub Kalule, John “The Beast” Mugabi and Boza Edwards were based in Denmark and USA respectively when they won world titles.

Basaja Mivule Kitooke, Mik Kizza, Festus Omondi and Remmy Iga will be some of the fighters on the under cards of the September fight.
