A CULTURAL Contest to crown a new Kogere 2005/6, which was organised by Engabu Za Toro ended in Fort Portal over the weekend.

A CULTURAL Contest to crown a new Kogere 2005/6, which was organised by Engabu Za Toro ended in Fort Portal over the weekend.
Engabu Za Toro is an Ngo based in Fort Portal, which promotes the social economic transformation of Toro Kingdom, through the preservation of culture.
Kogere was a woman Saza Chief of Busongora county (present day Kasese District). The Kogere tradition is believed to be as old as 1,000 years.
Rehema Kobusinge of Busoro sub-county, after beating eight contestants in the disciplines of culture, tradition food preparations and project planning was crowned the Kogere.
