KAMPALA — A lecturer at the Law Development Centre, Patrick Nyakaana Mabiho, has declared his intention to contest for the Burahya county seat in Kabarole district. The current MP, Stephen Basaliza, has in the recent months declared that he will not contest for the seat in the next elections.

RDC affirms
KABALE — Rakai resident district commissioner Mary Kemerwa has declared her intention to contest for the district woman MP seat in 2006. She said the incumbent, parliamentary affairs minister Hope Mwesigye, had divided the women along religious lines and had not helped them fight poverty.

80 arrested
KAMPALA — Eighty suspected criminals were rounded up on Tuesday night by the Police. The operation was conducted between 2:00am and 5:00am in Rubaga and Makindye divisions, city Police chief Benson Nyeko said yesterday. The men are being screened at Katwe Police Station.
