KAMPALA — Higher institutions of learning should adopt a Result-Oriented Management (ROM) style in order to to become competitive, the national secretary general of the Young Men Christian Association, Robert Jjumba, has said. “The ROM approach emphasises output, where institutions set targets and achieve them,” Jjumba said while presenting a paper on ROM Style and its relevancy to Uganda at Bativa Hotel in Wandegeya recently.

Nyombi calls
KAMPALA — The State Minister for Primary Education, Nyombi Tembo, has urged schools to train students in leadership skills, saying the Government needs leaders. “Schools should empower the young generation with modern leadership skills to promote unity within societies,” Nyombi said while addressing Lubiri old students at the school premises recently.

Ministry told
MUKONO — The education ministry should introduce an HIV/AIDS subject in the schools’ curriculum to enhance awareness of the epidemic. This was in a report presented by students of Nakanyonyi SS to Yusuf Nsubuga, the commissioner for secondary education, recently.

CLARIFICATION
THE editor’s comment in the Education Vision of August 8, had a mix-up. It was the Joint Admissions Board forms for Metu SS in Moyo that were submitted late and not that of Moyo SS. We sincerely regret any embarrassment the error could have caused.
