SWEDEN has earmarked 240 million Swedish Crown (sh1.8b) to fight poverty in Uganda and to ensure national development, the Swedish international development Agency (SIDA) country coordinator has said.

Speaking at a conference on conflict resolution and good governance in Uganda at ABF-Huset, Stockholm in Sweden recently, Per Karlsson said 65 million Swedish Crown would support Uganda’s budget.

“The goal for the Swedish assistance is to contribute to the fight against poverty in line with the poverty eradication action Plan. Special emphasis is given to women’s human rights and the rights of the child,” Karlsson said.
