WILSON Busienei finished in 14th position, leading Uganda to a tenth overall position in the IAAF World Half Marathon in Edmonton Canada on Saturday.

Tanzanian Joseph Fabian won the race and walked home with $30,000 (sh55m) cash prize.

Busienei, undergoing training in Italy, failed to improve on his performance last year when he finished sixth in New Delhi.

He was followed home by Nicholas Kiprono and James Kibet (51st and 57th) in the race that had 84 starters.

Alex Malinga, drafted on the team two days after Matthew Chebet was denied a visa by the Canadian embassy in Kenya, did not finish.

This was Uganda’s third best performance after finishing third last year and sixth in 2004.
