Trans-national Corporations (TNCs) should support small firms by contracting them to supply goods and services to enable them employ more people and increase income-generating activities, an official of Enterprise Uganda has said.

“According to a survey by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, there are over 800,000 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) but their activities are not financially stable due to lack of business to generate income,” the organisation’s manager of business advisory services, Rosemary Mutyabule, said.

Mutyabule said Enterprise Uganda had carried out a two-year business linkage pilot project and identified five sectors where SMEs could be linked to supply goods and services.

The sectors were farming, telecommunications, real estate, manufacturing and services.
