IDD el Fitr will be observed tomorrow, the Director of Sharia, Sheikh Hussien Rajab Kakooza, announced last night.
Kakooza said the moon had not been sighted in Uganda and in the Middle East and, therefore, today is a day of fasting.
He said Idd prayers will be held at Old kampala SSS playground to avoid disrupting building work at the headquarters.
In his Idd message, the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Ramathan Mubajje, advised Muslims to be tolerant as the country moves into a multiparty system of governance.
