REV. Otto Olima has petitioned education and sports state minister, the world soccer governing body FIFA and NCS over his exclusion from the list of eligible delegates of the local football body FUFA.

“Authorities should urgently intervene and rectify the situation. The electoral process is being hijacked by FUFA competition’s chairman Kavuma Kabenge who is blocking me from exercising my rights” complained Otto (far right).

Kabenge however insists that Otto is illegitimate. He not only says the reverend is not on the list of club officials, but also adds that Otto’s club Boroboro Holy Hill FC was disqualified from the Super Mini League in Mbale.

FUFA returning officer Patrick Okanya likewise echoed Kabenge’s stand. He added that Lira’s elections had for that matter been nullified and new ones set for Saturday like those of Mubende where Edward Lwanga was also found unqualified.

But Otto, armed with what he says is more than enough documentary proof, says there is foul play and has even threatened court action.

Okanya however said that unlike other legitimate clubs, Boroboro’s documents lack FUFA endorsement.

Otto however wonders why action is being taken at election time. “We played at district, zonal, regional and super mini stages and the issue was never raised.”

Otto also argued that the issue of their disqualification at super mini stage also does not arise. “The fact that we fulfiled the constitutional requirement of an active first division league at the district is enough,” he insisted.
He also said Lira is a fully paid up FUFA constituency.

Samson Opus adds that veteran Chris Rwanika ended speculation on his FUFA presidential ambitions – declaring candidature for the top post yesterday.

The 66-year-old Kabale delegate, who is due to pick nomination forms today said his decision to stand was due to people’s demand because of his vast experience. The other aspirant, Lawrence Mulindwa will also pick forms today.

Rwanika (far left) said he intends to lead a clean and accountable administration something he said is wanting in FUFA. “Some people contesting talk in money terms but not capability.

He denied being fronted by the Denis Obua camp.
