PRESIDENTIAL candidate Abed Bwanika has said President Yoweri Museveni is tired after ruling the country for 20 years and needs to rest at his Rwakitura farm.
“I hail President Museveni for ruling us for the last 20 years but you can even see that he is tired and needs to rest,” Bwanika said.
He was addressing residents of Lugazi town on Friday. He had just addressed a similar rally in Mukono town and at Kisoga.
He criticised the recent introduction of Bonna Bangagawale programme by Museveni, saying it would make Ugandans poorer.
Bwanika said for the last 20 years, Museveni has been advocating for poverty reduction but he had failed and could not do it in the next five years.
“I advise you to engage in programmes that would help you fight poverty in the households. When I come to power, I will revive co-operative societies,” he said.
He pledged to get more funding for the agriculture sector, arguing that it was the country’s backbone of development.
