OUTGOING Apac resident district commissioner Drani Dradriga has advised public officials to desist from corruption and account for public funds

OUTGOING Apac resident district commissioner Drani Dradriga has advised public officials to desist from corruption and account for public funds, reports Patrick Opio.

“The sh20b annual Government grant must have a positive impact on rural development. There should be a decline in ignorance, poverty and illiteracy through transparent and accountability of Government and local revenue,” he said.

Dradriga, who was speaking to The New Vision in his office recently, expressed anger over alleged mismanagement of sh647m President Yoweri Museveni had earmarked for a security feeder road project in Apac.

Citing last year’s Inspector General of Government report that rated the district as the third-most corrupt district in Uganda, he urged the district to improve its image and morality.

Dradriga, who, according last month’s reshuffle, is now Yumbe resident district commissioner, said DANIDA was threatening to pull out of road works project because of failure to account for sh600m.
