Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala has called for a national day of mourning for the victims of horrendous killings committed by the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels of Joseph Kony.

“I have learnt that you have been debating the war in the north. I propose that a national day of mourning be declared to mourn for the so many people who have died in the north. We should be in solidarity with the people in the north for what is happening,” said Wamala during the Ash Wednesday holy mass for Members of Parliament.

Kony rebels on Saturday attacked Barlonyo camp in Lira and killed over 250 people.

Over 100 MPs attended the mass at the Parliament Building’s Members Lounge. It was organised by Parliament’s Catholic chaplainancy headed by Kisoro MP Annette Mukabera.
