IF George Semogerere (right) is true to his word, the long-suffering fans of Old Timers are about to welcome the good times back to Bugiri.

Although their perilous position near the foot of the table has given them little to cheer this season so far, Semogerere’s arrival in Bugiri could signal an upturn in fortune.

Semogerere, one of the few celebrated soccer liberals the country has ever produced was recently appointed district sports officer.

Soccer fans in Bugiri have through the years been accustomed to under achievement and had never produced a club to top-flight football.

But Semogerere is a man consumed by ambition and even in dire circumstances, the former Express defender is determined to succeed or die trying this season.

“I didn’t take the job on to fail. It annoys to see where we are but I will take the team where they belong. I do not make idle promises and in my experience, it is a pointless exercise making promises you can’t keep,” said Semogerere, coach of Old Timers as well.
