THE Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) has killed 104 Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels in the last two weeks, the army said.

The spokesperson of the Lira-based UPDF fifth Division, 2nd Lt. Chris Magezi, recently said the fighting took place in Omot sub-county in Pader district.

Magezi said two UPDF soldiers were killed while four were seriously injured.

He said 24 LRA fighters surrendered to the army and most of them with their guns.

Magezi said the UPDF recovered 31 guns, six anti -tank guns, 200 hand grenades and 360 rounds of ammunition.

He said security had been beefed up following the recent Abia and Barlonyo massacres and a regular battalion had been attached to Amuka

Magezi said the situation was calming down although small groups of LRA were still trying to ambush vehicles and abduct people.
