THE National Resistance Movement (NRM) is waiting for the decision of the Supreme Court on the Political Parties and Organisations Act (POA) before setting up its structures and organs.

The party’s interim spokesman, Ofwono Opondo, said NRM could not hold internal elections until the Supreme Court pronounced itself on the POA.

He was responding to the late James Wapakhabulo’s letter to President Yoweri Museveni on the proposed amendment of Article 105(2) of the Constitution to lift the two-term limit for the presidency.

Wapakhabulo wanted the NRM to be established as a fully-fledged party with structures and organs before tackling the issue of lifting the two-term limits.

Ofwono said Wapakhabulo was right to call for internal elections within NRM because all party offices were elective except for administrative and support staff.

He said Wapakhabulo had the same thinking as many Movement leaders.
