SUSPECTED armed robbers have stolen property worth millions of shillings from a Kampala-based vehicle firm.

The Police said the thugs, armed with a pump action rifle, broke into Car and General Uganda Ltd, opposite Jinja Road Police Station on Monday at around 6:30pm and stole six generators worth sh13m and a safe containing documents, sh36,000 and $8 (sh16,000).

The suspects roughed up the sales manager, Dominic Matthews, before escaping with their loot in the firm’s double-cabin pick-up truck at about 8:00pm.

The truck was found abandoned in Ndebba, a city suburb.

The officer-in-charge of Jinja Road Police Station, Stephen Onencan, said they suspected a “clear case of collusion.”

He said Geoffrey Oketcho, a Tight Security guard, was on the run.
Onencan said the robbery happened moments after Okecho reported for duty and that his gun was found at the scene.

He said the Police suspected the robbers used another vehicle to transport the generators.
