NEBBI — The district recently formed a committee to spearhead Government programme of expanding micro-finance services to cover underserved areas in the country. LC5 vice-chairman Okwir Amula appealed to its members to utilise government funds to reach out to the rural producers who need money to improve production.

CAO asks
ARUA – The acting chief administrative officer, Stanley Adrabo, has asked the National Advisory Services (NAADS) secretariat and donors to include more sub-counties in the programme. This was at a meeting with donors and NAADS board members at Heritage Gardens on Thursday.

NGO aids
KIBAALE –— An Australian NGO, Australia Aid, has given sh91m to a a local NGO, Uganda Rural Development and Training (URDT) Programme. Handing over the cheque to URDT chief executive Mwalimu Mushere recently, Asif Khan, said the money was meant for gender and HIV/AIDS sensitisation programmes.

DEO says
KITGUM –— The district education officer, Amo Okwe, on Friday said the district received 57,866 textbooks from the Ministry of Education and Sports. Speaking in his office, Okwe said they were for primary schools that were not supported by the Government.
