CHARLES Muhangi is doing everything in his means to drive his Subaru Impreza WRC in this weekend’s Alpha Mbarara rally.

The former African champion has applied for late scrutineering to enable his mechanics complete work on the world class car.

Scrutineering of cars is today at 2pm at Mambo Bado car washing bay, Mengo.

“He wants the WRC. He asked me to apply for late scrutineering. In case it is not done in time we shall then drive the ‘Ekitaguriiro’ (his group A Subaru),” co-driver Busingye Rwabwogo said yesterday.

Muhangi will be out to end a four-year winless streak on his home turf.

Meanwhile Ronald Ssebuguzi and Abdu Mambo made a late entry, increasing the number of drivers in the race to 17.

The seeding ceremony and drivers’ briefing will be conducted today at 8pm at Dolphine Suites in Bugolobi.

Alpha Dairy has sponsored the fifth round of the National Rally Championship that will be held in Mbarara.
