FIFTY-FIVE teams have confirmed participation in the Uganda Red Cross Society Charity Golf Tournament due tomorrow at Kitante course.
Each team has paid over sh0.2m to take part in the 18-holes event organised by Red Cross and Uganda Golf Club to raise money for expectant mothers in Internally Displace People camps in Northern Uganda.
The draw, that will be played on four-ball better-ball format, was due to be conducted last night.
The tournament is part of the ‘mama appeal’ aimed at raising sh75m to buy ‘mama kits’ for 3000 mothers in the camps.
Last year, Red Cross raised sh4.5m in a similar tournament, which was used to buy clothes, soap and blankets for children in Putika camp, Pader district in an appeal that was code-named the “children’s warm bag”.
