National annual milk production has increased from 700 million litres in 2000 to one billion litres in 2003.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Kisamba Mugerwa, during a workshop for livestock systems research at Hotel Africana in Kampala recently.
Mugerwa stressed the Government’s commitment to modernising the agricultural sector.
The director general of the National Agricultural Research Organisation, Dr. Otim Nape, said the livestock research programme had built the capacity of scientists and farmers, making the livestock sector visible.
