AGA Khan High School students have started a project to raise US$125,000 (over sh226m) for internally displaced youths in Gulu.

The project, dubbed ‘Northern Youth Connection (NYC)’ targets Noah’s Ark Children’s Ministry and the Charity for Peace Foundation, both night commuter centres for displaced youths in Gulu Town.

In a statement yesterday, NYC said NYC/Aga Khan students have organised a bazaar starting tomorrow at the Aga Khan High School campus to raise the aid.

Miss Uganda Salmah Nassanga is expected to grace the bazaar.

The Kampala youth, led by the NYC marketing manager, Lambert Deanna, said the project would increase domestic and international awareness on the plight of children in northern Uganda.

He said the community service project, formed in April and approved by the headteacher, Dr John Pragnell, was meant to respond to the northern crisis.

The bazaar will also have carnival games with prizes including basketball, face painting for kids and academic displays.

There will also be an art exhibition and a computer fair, among others.
