RIYAZ Kurji’s victory in the Western Challenge rally at the weekend has hoisted him to fourth position on the National Rally Championship (NRC) standings.<br>Kurji, who grossed 200 points, moved 25 points close to retired Kuku Ranjit.

He only needs to finish next month’s Castrol-Mogas Independence rally to complete the season in third position. Charlie Lubega, who tops the chart with 515 points, has already clinched the championship.
Newcomer Jas Mangat, who won the Clubman Rally Championship (CRC) class in the Mbarara Motor Club organised rally, has closed in on CRC leader Abdu Mambo.

  • THE winning crew of Castrol-Mogas Independence rally due October 16-17 will be rewarded with a trip to South Africa. “The winning driver and navigator will attend a Castrol sponsored motorsport event in South Africa. This may enhance their skills,” Castrol brand manager Joseph Ossiya said.

    MSG International through its Castrol and Mogas brands on Monday announced a sh45m package for the final round of the 2004 championship (NRC).

    The Uganda Motor Club (UMC) organised rally, will start with a special stage tentatively set for Lubiri on October 16 and the next day the second leg will cover Mukono and Jinja districts. The rally secretariat opened yesterday at Joker’s Bar.
