Kijjambu promises lower taxes

Makindye division chairman Deogratius Kijjambu has assured his people that they will have pay a reduced graduated tax of between sh7,500 and sh8,000.

By Edris Kisambira Makindye division chairman Deogratius Kijjambu has assured his people that they will have pay a reduced graduated tax of between sh7,500 and sh8,000.Kijjambu told a crowd that had turned up at Ggaba trading centre to attend a victory party for the area councillor, Siraje Lubwama, that Kampala City Council (KCC) agreed to make a 50% reduction on the new tax structure that was released last year by the Ministry of Local government.“We agreed after a review by the Ministry of Local government, that sh3,000 is not feasible. We, however, decided to a make a 50% reduction which translates into sh7,500 and 8,000 which you will have to pay,” he said.Kijjambu said he supported the idea of scrapping graduated tax but added that nobody would pay more than what was agreed upon. “Nobody will ask you for more than sh8,000,” he said.
