39 Districts Get Election Materials

By Edris KisambiraTHE Electoral Commission (EC) has dispatched election materials to 39 districts out of the 56 districts for the LC5 elections tomorrow.Sam Rwakoojo, the secretary to the EC, said, “we have already packed, loaded and dispatched election materials to 39 districts, especially those that are far away.”Apart from Kampala district, which will use the photographic register, Rwakoojo said the remaining 15 districts would have received their materials by last evening.For Kampala, he said when the register was displayed, “those whose pictures were missing on the draft register had to retake their photos so we could incorporate them in the final one, and that is what we are working on and are confident it will be ready by today.”Elections for sub-county, town and municipal division councillors held earlier in the year failed to take off at most polling centres countrywide due to failure by the Electoral Commission to deliver election materials in time.Ends
