By Grace Matsiko THE Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Katumba Wamala, yesterday sent another team of investigators to establish the person responsible for the shooting in Kiboga in which an LC2 chairman was killed.Katumba’s decision followed a statement made by the State Minister for Defence, Ruth Nankabirwa, at the CID headquarters on Sunday following allegations that her bodyguards shot Swaibu Malinga, an LC2 chairman for Ntunda, Nsambya sub-county.Katumba yesterday assured Kiboga residents that Police had the capacity to identify Malinga’s killers. Malinga was said to be an agent of Siraje Nkugwa, the winner of the LC5 chairmanship.Malinga was shot and killed during a scuffle between jubilant supporters of Nkugwa and security personnel. Five other civilians were seriously injured.Meanwhile, Malinga’s relatives have demanded that President Yoweri Museveni intervenes in finding the people responsible for the killing, the area MP, Kaweesa Ndawula, said yesterday. “They demanded that government takes care of the 24 children and three wives the deceased left behind because its agents killed the man,” Ndawula said. The MP said, “Some of us are expecting action from government.... from what witnesses say, it amounted to a planned murder. Malinga was not among the crowd. He was shot from a distance where he was standing alone.”Nankabirwa, the area MP, denied that her body-guards killed Malinga.Ends
