STRAIGHT-Talk has boosted Davis Kamoga’s athletic club with an offer of 25 T-shirts, report James Bakama, Samson Opus and Norman Katende.The offer is a first step towards the Olympian’s effort to groom athletic talent.The club that is based at Makerere College School has so far attracted 25 junior athletes. Kamoga, the 400m 1996 Atlanta Olympic bronze medalist is being assisted by Makerere College games master Chris Mugisa.The quarter-miller appealed to more sponsors to assist the club he started last month. The club will also expose local talent on the international scene. r Julius Acon is banking on a stint in Europe to salvage what he terms as a disastrous Commonwealth Games build-up.Acon, who departs for Portugal on Monday, said that the offer by a Lisbon club will greatly boost his form. “The respective Ugandan authorities are showing little interest, so this is timely,” said Acon.Government and Uganda Olympic Committee are supposed to jointly fund preparations for the quadrennial games.r Joseph Nsubuga has been included on the three-man national team for Saturday’s Djibouti International Half Marathon after organisers sent an additional air-ticket.
