AN assessor with the High Court was yesterday sentenced to two-years in prison for stealing a land title belonging to his late girl-friend.

James Kawesa committed the offence in 1991 in Kansanga after the death of Betty Kikomeko who left three children.Andrew Bashaija, the High Court registrar in-charge of training, said Kawesa had committed theft, forgery and uttering the same land title to the land office.“I accordingly convict you to two years in prison on each of the three counts which will run concurrently,” Bashaija said. The prosecution said Kawesa in January 1991 at Kansanga, broke into Kikomeko’s wardrobe and stole the land title for Kyebando Block 254 Plot 270, valued at sh14m.Ends
