Kabale residents advised on malaria control

KABALE district Director of Health Services Dr. Justus Katungu has predicted a possible increase of malaria in the district since the rains have started, reports Hanningston Mbabazi.

KABALE district Director of Health Services Dr. Justus Katungu has predicted a possible increase of malaria in the district since the rains have started, reports Hanningston Mbabazi.Katungu told The New Vision on Monday that surveillance figures taken from health units showed an increase in malaria in Bufundi, Kashambya, Kamuganguzi and Rwamucucu.He, however, said several other areas in the district remained normal.Katungu said his office, together with other stakeholders, have put in place measures to fight malaria in the district.The measures include household spraying, supply of anti-malaria drugs and bednets impregnated with anti-malarial drugs and continued health education.Katungu, advised residents to use the available measures in order to be malaria-free.He said the health ministry would start a project to help predict and control epidemics ahead of time.
