The Kitgum Concerned Women’s Association (KICWA) is a Ugandan non-governmental organisation based in Kitgum. KICWA works in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the districts of Kitgtum and Pader, and other organisations to implement a Reception and Reintegration Centre for formerly abducted children. KICWA’s activities include centre-based care for children and community-based psychosocial support to children, families and communities affected by armed conflict.KICWA and the IRC are seeking to recruit a Psychosocial Co-ordinator to plan, implement and coordinate all psychosocial activities for children at the KICWA Reception and Reintegration Centre, their families and war affected communities. Specific responsibilities / Key result areas include:l Overall coordination of all psychosocial activities for children and their families. This includes: reception of children, psychosocial assessments, tracing of families, reintegration of children, community sensitization, and community-based follow-up activities.l Plan a weekly program of psychosocial activities, incorporating child-focused methods such as drawing, drama, puppet shows, focus group discussions, games and sports, dance, and cultural activities.l Supervision of all KICWA Caregivers, to ensure quality care of children, in accordance with Ugandan child care policies and national and international psychosocial guidelines.l Conduct training with Caregivers and other KICWA staff to develop expertise in facilitating psychosocial activities and to promote ‘best practices’ in caring for formerly abducted children.l Meet with the families of children to involve them in planning for reintegration.l Sensitize communities to promote healing and acceptance of formerly abducted children.l Liaise with the UPDF Child Protection Unit to receive new children and provide emergency care.l Supervise psychosocial records, and ensure that each child has a comprehensive, up-to-date file. Assist in maintaining the database record.l Provide monthly Psychosocial Reports to the Centre Manager, and assist in report and proposal writing for donors.l Participate in District Psychosocial Coordination Meetings and liaise with district officials and other NGOsl Deputize for the KICWA Centre Manager when s/he is absent.Minimum Qualifications:University Degree in Social Work or Social Sciences. Minimum 3 years experience working in social work and/or child-focused programs. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Fluency in both English and Luo.
