LEADERS at different levels in the districts of southwestern Uganda have recommended that the movement political system continue until a referendum is organised.

By Hannington MbabaziLEADERS at different levels in the districts of southwestern Uganda have recommended that the movement political system continue until a referendum is organised.This was contained in memoranda from different districts in south-western Uganda submitted to the Constitutional Review Commission during workshops organised by Uganda Gender Resource Centre countrywide recently.During a three-day workshop in Kabale district at Kihumuro Hotel attended by the district councillors and LC3 chairpersons, a memorandum was signed recommending that political parties wait for sometime and Ugandans continue with the Movement political system.The leaders recommended that the death penalty be maintained, age of consent be maintained at 18 and number of ministers be reduced to 22 with the abolition of the post of state minister.At another workshop in Rukungiri Catholic Social Centre, a memorandum was signed with a recommendations among others that the Movement political system continue.Other recommendations from Kabale, Kisoro, Kanungu, Ntungamo, Rukungiri were that declaration of wealth by elected leaders be done twice in their terms of office and that members of parliament should not be ministers.
