A group of Karimojong women on Sunday carried out rain making rituals in Nakapiripirit town, which, they claim, enabled them to get a down pour after a two-month dry spell, reports Nathan Etengu. The women sang vulgar songs, drowned a goat in river Nakapiripirit and destroyed freshly made bricks, accusing the brick owners of breaking Karimojong customs that forbade brick making and pottery during rainy seasons. The goat was immersed in the river four time and left to die before its meat was roasted and eaten. The women also immersed their children in the river as part of the ritual to invoke the gods to send rain. Ends
