A TOTAL of 180 street children at Kampiringisa remand home in Mpigi district have received resettlement packages including mattresses, hoes, jerrycans and a total package of sh18m in preparation for integration in their respective communities, reports Martin Kiiza. The children are part of the over 500 idlers who were netted from Kampala streets recently.The remand home principal, Michael Alule, said this while briefing the chairperson of the National Council for Children, the Rev. Fr. Louis Turyamureeba.Alule said the swoop rounded up to 522 idlers who included children, men and women.He said the number of children was 389, adding that the mothers were handed over to the Police.Turyamureeba stressed the need for protection and care of street children and proposed an introduction of conditional grants for them.
