By Daniel SaireFUFA has barred the outgoing regional executive members from taking part in the elections scheduled for this Saturday.Only FUFA delegates and members of the zonal committees will elect the regional executives for the five regions of Northern, Eastern, Western, Central and Kampala.Secretary Haruna Mawanda said that regional offices would be opened and run by these committees. The offices would be equipped with fax machines that were given to FUFA in 2000 under the Meridian project headed by German-Uganda technical director Guenter Zittel. The machines have been lying idle in the NCS stores. The FUFA general assembly that met on September 13, 2001 resolved that FUFA allocates part of the annual FIFA grant to regional offices for the administration and running football programmes.FUFA however, claim all funds have been committed to the national teams, the Cranes and U-20 preparations.r The annual FUFA ordinary assembly has been set for September 6 at the International Conference centre.Mawanda yesterday said that the non-elective assembly will discuss different issues aimed at developing the game of football.“It is an annual ordinary assembly, whose agenda is provided for by the constitution,” he said.Ends
