Museveni Wants Customs Union For EA

By Lillian NalumansiPRESIDENT Museveni has reaffirmed his commitment towards the formation of the customs union for the three member states of the East African Community (EAC).A press release by Mary Okurut the President’s Press Secretary stated that Museveni said the unity of the EAC is a more important aspect of regional development than the technicalities delaying the formation of the customs union.Museveni said this on Tuesday in a meeting with the EAC Secretary General, Amanya Mushega, who called on him at the 4th Division base in Gulu district.Mushega has been in Uganda on a two-day official visit during which he held consultation meetings with government officials.The matters Mushega discussed included the EAC Customs Union and the Lake Victoria Development Programme.Ends
