THE mayor of Kampala, John Ssebaana Kizito, on Thursday said no building would be constructed at the Pan African Freedom Square as had been alleged by some people.

Ssebaana told The New Vision that the Pan African Freedom Square, which is adjacent to Katwe and Entebbe roads, was a green area.

Pan African Youth Movement (PAYM) last week revealed plans to construct an ultra modern hotel at the square.

But Ssebaana said, “KCC has not authorised the Pan African youth to put up a hotel at the square. It is supposed to remain the way it is because it is a green area.”

PAYM alleged that KCC had given them the square and were only awaiting the land documents to be transferred to them.

“We wish to thank President Yoweri Museveni and City Council for giving Pan African Movement this freedom square,” Pan African Movement chairman Tusiime Kanyogonya was quoted last week.
