NATIONAL Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) billed income, has increased from sh25b to sh33b over the past four years, managing director, Dr. William Muhairwe has said.
At the joint review of the water sector this week, Dr. Muhairwe told donors and government officials, that they have registered the sh8b rise by extending various mains, increasing connections of consumers and installation of public posts and standpipes.
Muhairwe said, “The NWSC appears to be near the point of achieving operating profit inclusive of depreciation within the next two financial years. This would be an encouraging factor to potential private operators considering the bid for lease.”
NWSC currently operates in urban centres, including Kampala, Jinja/Njeru, Entebbe, Tororo, Mbale, Mbarara, Gulu, Lira, Fort Portal Kasese, Soroti, Kabale and Arua. Ends
