Society scouts in the UK E-mail us with news that former model and also formerly of the Rod Steward harem, Rachel Hunter, is heading a gorilla appeal to save the endangered species. The appeal was launched this week by the Born Free Foundation, a British-based charity, which hopes to raise £1 million to help protect the gorillas in Uganda.
Hunter said, “Watching these gentle, human-like animals fills me with happiness and anger. I keep thinking, ‘How could people want to kill them?’” she says.
The New Zealand born fox did have quite a hairy moment during a trip to Bwindi sometime back. While she was watching a 30-year-old male silverback named Mark, he suddenly stood up and Rachel was engulfed by a wave of panic. She tried to flee but was stopped by the wardens, to prevent alarming the animals. Ends
