THE Ministry of Education and Sports is to develop a post primary education training strategy. The aim is to develop schools that excel in co-curricular activities, turning them into centres of excellence.

Hajji Yusuf Nsubuga, commissioner for education revealed that the policy was in the pipeline but would be effective as soon as donors approved it.

He said the new policy would have such centres fully concentrate on developing the talents of students in co-curricular activities such as sports, music, dance and drama (MDD).

Nsubuga made the revelation when he represented the Minister of Education and Sports, Dr. Khiddu Makubuya at Jinja SSS’s celebrations held last Wednesday.

He said Jinja SSS would be one of the school to benefit from the new strategy. The school excelled in all the co-curricular activities at both national and district level this year.

Nsubuga also announced an additional grant of sh20m, on top of the sh10m earlier received by the school, from the ministry for the purchase of classroom furniture. He’d earlier commissioned a girls’ dormitory and a dining hall at the school.

Jinja SSS formerly a boys’ school was hailed for addressing government's call of ensuring education of girls.
