KASESE district has expressed concern over the acute shortage of drugs at Bwera hospital, the only government medical centre in the area, reports John Nzinjah.
At a public meeting at Bwera trading centre recently, residents told the deputy resident district commissioner, Rose Bwabaseki, that they were disappointed by the perpetual lack of drugs in the hospital.
Bwera hospital was officially opened by president Yoweri Museveni three years ago.
It was built with funds from the government and the African Development Bank.
They said the drugs supposed to be in the hospital were found being distributed in private clinics in Bwera town.
Bwabaseki dismissed rumours that the drugs were being smuggled into the neighbouring eastern DR Congo. Ends
