The High Court in Mbarara yesterday dismissed with costs an election petition filed by Zedekia Karokora, against Rubabo county MP Prof. Mondo Kagonyera.

By Vision ReportersThe High Court in Mbarara yesterday dismissed with costs an election petition filed by Zedekia Karokora, against Rubabo county MP Prof. Mondo Kagonyera.Kagonyera, is also Minister for General duties in the Prime Ministers Office. Karokora, an employee in the President’s Office, lost to Kagonyera in the June 2001 Parliamentary elections but contested the results saying the electoral exercise was characterised by irregularities. The presiding Judge, Justice Musoke Kibuuka, said Karokora failed to prove that the polls in Rubabo were marred by irregularities, which substantially affected the outcome of the election.Kagonyera expressed joy of over the case ruling. “I feel relieved that the judge has dismissed this petition,” he said. “I believe solidly in the Movement. I do not know if that man still believes in the Movement,” he added.Ends
