Hoima to get 60 boreholes

HOIMA district local council has signed an agreement with MUKA Drilling Services Company to drill over 60 boreholes at a cost of sh880m.

By Amlan Tumusiime HOIMA district local council has signed an agreement with MUKA Drilling Services Company to drill over 60 boreholes at a cost of sh880m.The Chief Administrative Officer, Patrick Mwesigwa Isingoma, signed on behalf of the district while Gilbert Mujogya Atwooki, signed for the contractor at a function held at Hoima Rural Training Centre on Tuesday.The project is under the District Development Support Programme (DDSP). Isingoma said another 60 boreholes would be drilled in the second phase. “I appeal the contractors to produce good work that would show value for money because if you do good work, you may even win the second phase,” he said.The district water engineer, Moses Muyende, said most boreholes would be built in schools and in four sub-counties of Buseruka, Kyangwali, Kigorobya and Kabwoya.The DDSP district coordinator, John William Byakabaga, said the project was to construct offices for parish chiefs in each parish to extend services nearer to the people.
