President Yoweri Museveni has said the setting up of the World Food Programme (WFP) regional bureau for Eastern, Southern and the Horn of Africa in Kampala will boost government’s plan for the modernisation of agriculture.

President Yoweri Museveni has said the setting up of the World Food Programme (WFP) regional bureau for Eastern, Southern and the Horn of Africa in Kampala will boost government’s plan for the modernisation of agriculture.John Odyek reports that Museveni said this on Tuesday at a meeting with the WFP’s Executive Director, Catherine Bertini, where he was represented by Vice-President Wandira Kazibwe. Bertini flew on Tuesday to Dakar, Senegal, another regional office for the WFP.WFP buys some of its food like beans, oil, rice and maize from Uganda.Kazibwe said she was appointed Chairperson of a Pan-African Women African Committee on Peace and Conflict Resolution. She said the committee was intended to enable women in Africa participate in conflict resolution and development activities.Ends
