THE new Arua LC5 chairman, Richard Andama Ferua, was last week sworn-in.

By Dawin DawaTHE new Arua LC5 chairman, Richard Andama Ferua, was last week sworn-in.A total of 56 district councillors were also sworn-in 20 of whom were women. A total of 31 councillors returned back.They were sworn in by the district chief magistrate, Gabriel Nyipir.Nyipir told the councillors that their oath of commitment emphasised upholding the constitution, observing official secrecy, exercising collective responsibility, following the law and serving the people who had elected them.The guest of honour at the occasion was the Attorney General, Francis Ayume. He was represented by the Arua Municipality MP, Saidi Nasur Okuti.Okuti said election of political leaders was a constitutional and democratic process. He advised the new council to make reconciliation and unity their prime duty and find ways of generating their own local resources which must be accounted for.He said the Arua election was free and fair and reflected the people’s power and voice. Okuti urged the new leadership to improve on errors in the previous government. he advise the councillors to put God first in their work.
